Why HandyGirl?
"A WOMAN fluent in three languages and with an honours degree in computer science has left her high-flying job to take on the cowboys in the building trade"
By Leigh Robinson
I worked in the IT sector where my last role was a Tri-lingual Technical Support Consultant, until an experience with intimidating, threatening, untrustworthy and overcharging tradesmen made me think about the opportunity and set up HandyGirl.
Following broken promises from incompetent tradesmen who did lousy work on my own home, I've decided to take the matter into my own hand and so HandyGirl was born March 22, 2006. I knew a handful of women in my hometown, who wanted a handy girl. I knew there would be a demand because many women and elderly people live alone; also women who are head of the household who might feel uncomfortable about letting men enter their home.
HandyGirl's mission is about translating my personal values into the business environment:
-
Treating people, their home and time with respect.
-
Integrity of the employees, skills and expertise in the services we offer
-
Providing Prompt, Reliable, Trustworthy Service
-
Quality workmanship at a fair price.
-
Leave our work area clean
-
Superior customer service.
Our staff have a wide range of skills, we employ fully qualified, experienced and reference checked painters, decorators, electricians, Corgi Registered plumbers and carpenters. We have developed our own in-house training programs to ensure all of our employees understand the HandyGirl business culture and the requirements of our customers.
